Colombian Casino and Card Room Gaming

El Consejo Nacional de Juegos de Suerte y Azar (CNJSA) replaced Empresa Territorial para la Salud (ETESA) as the gaming industry's regulatory body and is responsible for the licensing and collection of taxes from gaming establishments.

CNJSA was created in an effort to establish a national gaming commission with greater authority and enforcement power to combat illegal gambling. It is estimated that illegal gambling accounts for roughly 20% of the market.

In another effort to combat money laundering and tax evasion, the Colombian Ministry of Finance passed a measure in 2006 requiring casinos to report winners of more than USD 4,500.
